Here's my why...
I started this Tuscan Wine Club because we felt these vineyards are special ones. We love making connections and sharing small, family run vineyards with our clients. These vineyards have a special place in my heart.
I want you to be “drinking someone’s story” not just collecting wine when you join this wine club. These vineyards have great family stories on how they started as well the story behind each wine bottle's name.
The first vineyard is called Montefioralle Winery located outside the borgo of Montefioralle. I've been going to this vineyard since 2010. I taught English to the owners of this vineyard and we became fast friends. Recently, we held our first Virtual wine-tasting with this vineyard which included a drone, the winemakers and a group of Italian wine lovers.
The second vineyard is Altiero Winery. Altiero is down the street from Montefioralle on top of a Tuscan hill lined with vines of grapes. I visited this vineyard for the first time last year. I'm now fully in love with this family who runs Altiero. Paolo and Samuela live and breathe their creation of wine and oil. They are passionate, kind and so proud of their wine. This is what makes their wine so intriguing.
The third vineyard is Casa Lucii located in San Gimignano. Another hilltop location for the production of organic wine and oil. Everything about this vineyard made me feel at home. Lorenzo Lucii took us on a private tour of the winery which has been passed down from his great-grandfather.
The fourth vineyard in our club is an even smaller vineyard called Cantina La Frasca. Their vineyard is in the background of the historic town of Cetona, in the southern part of Tuscany. Matteo is the great-grandson of the founder of his vineyard. He gave us a personal tour of his vineyard and told us his family stories of making wine for so many years. His family (mother and father) sell their wine in their cantina in the center of Cetona. They sell cheeses, meats and marmalade with an opportunity to have a private wine-tasting inside.
Here are some photos from Cantina La Frasca.
